Prabowo meets with friends, fights for Christmas together in Atambua
Pojok Id. Gerindra Party Chairperson Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend the Christmas celebration with Gerindra in Atambua, Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Thursday, tomorrow. Chairperson of the Gerindra National Christmas Committee Sarah Djojohadikusumo said the Christmas celebration in Atambua was a place to miss Prabowo and his old friends.
"In Atambua, many of Pak Prabowo's colleagues were still in the East Timor era, in the 1980s. This is a kind of missed miss with his friends," Sarah told reporters in Kupang on Wednesday. Sarah, who was accompanied by the Chairperson of the Indonesia Raya Christian Movement (Gekira) Center, Fary Djemi Francis, said that the Christmas celebration at the border between Indonesia and Timor Leste was also part of historical education for the community, especially the younger generation.
The historical education that Sarah referred to was about what happened in 1976 to 1985, when Prabowo was in charge of quelling the Security Disrupting Movement (GPK) in East Timor. There were a number of Prabowo's friends who would attend the joint Christmas celebration, namely the former Regent of Manatuto, East Timor Vidal Sarmento and Chairperson of the Level II DPRD of Viqueque District, East Timor Afonso Henriques Pinto or familiarly called Lafaek.
This Christmas with Gerindra, Sarah said, shows the unity of Indonesia, the Republic of Indonesia, Pancasila, which is highly upheld in Gerindra and Gekira as a wing organization that has been established for a long time. "This is also a bit of political education for the people of Indonesia, which may have assumed that Mr Prabowo was intolerant, but reality is not like that," he said.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Central Indonesia Christian Movement (Gekira) Center, Fary Djemi Francis, said that in the joint Christmas celebration, Prabowo was scheduled to give a speech and also visit the Heroes Cemetery in Atambua.
Fary revealed, there were three reasons Prabowo chose the Belu border area as the location of Christmas with the National Gerindra Party, the Border was not a new territory especially foreign to Prabowo Subianto. He is very familiar with these regions because many soldiers spend time here.
His life was always in a boundary situation, whether life or death. Prabowo has many fighting friends who now live on the border.
