Not Worried About the Themes of Human Rights in the Presidential Election Debate, This Is the Reason of Prabowo's Camp

Chairman of the National Winning Body Prabowo Subianto - Sandiaga Uno, Djoko Santoso, said he was not worried about the theme of the first debate in the 2019 presidential election which raised the theme of human rights or human rights. Djoko did not fret even though Prabowo was often attacked with issues of past human rights violations.
"No (worry)," Djoko said in the South Jakarta area, Thursday, December 27, 2018.
According to Djoko, the issue of human rights is a mere issue of recycling. He reasoned that the issue did not arise when Prabowo partnered with Megawati Soekarnoputri in the 2009 presidential election. However, the issue of human rights arose when Prabowo ran for the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections.
Prabowo was allegedly involved in kidnapping activists during the 1998 reform. At that time, Prabowo, who served as the General Commander of the Special Forces Command, was the leader of the Mawar Team which was allegedly involved in kidnapping pro-democracy activists.
Djoko considered that Prabowo's problem was not accused of violating human rights when Indonesia was in the transition period, namely from the new order to reform. The former Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces said that the choice to violate human rights was indeed a risk for people serving in the crisis area.
Djoko said he would also choose to violate human rights if the other choice was the collapse of Indonesia. According to him, it is not his problem to violate human rights, provided the country remains intact.
"Five years ago I was asked that, violating human rights or the country was damaged or collapsed. It was better to violate human rights, I was just punished, the state remained intact. It was the choices for people serving in crisis areas," Djoko.
Djoko added that there was something more dangerous than violating human rights in the transitional era, namely violating human rights in the present. "If democracy is in a condition like this violates human rights now, it is even harder," he said.
